Food Stations

So many brides these days are doing stations at their reception instead of a buffet or sit-down dinner. But I also have brides that say, "What are food stations or live stations"?

They are different tables setup with a variety of menu's. For example: a Pasta Station, you will have a chef there to mix in a variety of sauces, meats, and vegetables to your pasta. The guest will be able to choose what they want with their pasta. There are lots of different stations you can choose from.

*Gourmet Grilled Cheese

*Taco Bar

*Gourmet Mac and Cheese

*Stir-fry Station

*Sushi Bar

*Mashed Potato Martini Bar

My favorite is the Mini Dessert Station. Lots of mini desserts!

I personally love the look of doing different stations all around the reception room, most caterers provide them. Another good idea is doing stations at your cocktail hour, instead of your simple fruit and cheese display. Guest really enjoy the food stations as well, they enjoy going around to the stations and getting alittle of everything.

Wedding Invitations

Invitations are one of my favorite details about the wedding. I love getting wedding invitations in the mail, to see what that couple chose to showcase their wedding announcement. The invitations are very important, when guest open the envelope to see the invitation they get the first glimpse of how your wedding will be.

A few helpful things to remember when preparing for your invitations: Make sure to take a envelope that's ready to mail to your post office to weigh, to make sure you have the correct postage on them. Invitations should go out 7-9 weeks before the wedding date, this will give guest plenty of time to respond. For destination weddings you can send them out sooner, if you did not send save-the-dates. Help guest out and put a stamp on the response card.

**Postage goes up May 11, 2009. So if you are buying stamps now for your invitations, make sure to get the forever stamps or send them before then.

Spring Weddings

With spring right around the corner, "thank goodness". I wanted to share a color palette that I love for this year.

A pretty pink, cobalt blue, & white. There are so many things you can do with these colors.

An idea for a spring garden wedding, your signature drink being served in mason jars. These colors will be great for a garden wedding but will work for any wedding.

I love the look of these pink orchids with river rocks. Very simple, but still stylish!

Then tie the orchids into the cake design. There are so many different ideas you can choose for your spring wedding, find one that fits your style.
I had the pleasure of helping a bride plan her wedding on Valentine's Day & hope to share those pictures with you soon.

Choosing the Right Caterer

As you have noticed, there are quite a few caterers out there with great services for your wedding. I have worked with several caterers, and prefer to work with caterers that I have worked with at previous events. These are ones that I know, and can trust them with my clients.

I have been asked several times, how do I know which one to choose. I understand not all brides have planners to help them choose a caterer. Here are the tips, I suggest:

*When given a recommended caterers list, ask family or friends if they have workd with any of them.
*Search for reviews on the caterers, make sure to check the date of the review as well.
*Make sure the caterer has a contract for you to sign.
*Make sure that you can get a tasting of their food, before you sign the contract. So that you exactly what there food taste like.
*Ask for references from past clients.

These tips should help you. I would also suggest wedding sites as, Ashleysbrideguide and The Knot for good local vendors. Happy Planning!!!
