This weeks topic is something that I have alot of brides tell me or ask about. When asked about a planner they mention, "the lady at the reception site with be planning everything." As I try to stress to brides when they say that, she/he works for the reception site not you. The reception site planner knows all the logistics of that site, but may not know the best vendors to use or etc.
The planner you hire works for you, to help you plan your wedding.
Here is a perfect example, I got hired on to help a bride with planning her wedding & she had already been to the reception site earlier to figure out the menu. So once I was hired we went back together for her to sign the contract. As I read over the contract the price was much higher than she had mentioned to me, than it would be when she first came. So I asked the planner & they replied that they must have quoted the price to the bride wrong. In the long run, I got them to give her the price they quoted her the first time. If that bride didn't have someone on her side or working for her, she probably would have just paid the higher amount.

Bridal Brunch Recap
The Bridal Brunch on Sunday was exactly what I thought it would be, fabulous!! I like more intimate shows, with an upscale feel & this show fit that. As we probably all know the Scene knows how to throw a great event.

Thanks to Joe Hendricks for these pictures.

For my area, I chose to do a table setup. I wanted something modern, so I decided to use peacock feathers. I paired the colors pool blue, green, & silver. Here is a photo of my setup,

Thanks to Joe Hendricks for these pictures.
I used a peacock wreath for the centerpiece with a cylinder vase filled with cream orchids & floating candles. I also wanted to incorporate the stationary to the table setup. So here are the menu's that also can be used as place cards and the invitation, designed by Nicole Nickolas Designs.

I did a drawing for the free planning of a Bridal Luncheon. I have chosen the winner & will announce her soon.

Words of Wisdom
I have decided that each week I am going to give out some advice to brides planning their weddings. Things that will just make the process a little easier for you.
So this week I want to talk about ceremony and reception venues. Even if you just want a Day of Planner, have them visit the site. The planner will be able to see the space & tell you exactly if it will be able to hold the amount of guest you have or if you have space for everything you are wanting. This will help in the long run, because if your planner has not seen the site then a month before the event, she sees it & tells you that there is not going to be enough space to do everything you have planned.
So keep your planner involved, you hired them to help you. Even with my Day of brides, I contact them once a month just to see how everything is going. Plus, I am always available for questions.

Bride Wars
I went this weekend to see Bride Wars & loved it. This is the perfect movie for brides to take their bridal party to see. The movie is about friendships & will show your bridesmaid what you go through with planning your wedding. It's also a good movie for a group of friends too!!
