"Do we have to send a Save-the-Date"? "What information do we need to include on them"?
These are questions couples usually ask about their Save-the-date cards. Save-the-dates are sent to let your guest know when your wedding date is and any added information they will need. They are great for couples planning a destination wedding, they help guest to plan in advance to attend your wedding.
Save-the-dates do not have to be sent out with every wedding, but I recommend, if you are having a destination wedding or a wedding on a holiday weekend, they should be sent out. Guest need time to make arrangements to attend a destination wedding. If your entire guest list is coming from out-of-town they need to know your wedding date in advance. I recommend save-the-dates be sent out a year to six months before the wedding date. If your wedding is sooner than that and it's a destination wedding, I say just send the invitations out sooner.
Now if you are planning a destination wedding or the majority of your guest will be traveling for your wedding, the save-the-dates should include information your guest will need:
*Hotel accomodations in the area with different price points
*Wedding date and time
*All of the special events planned for that weekend
*Airport information
*The address to your wedding website (if you have one)
All of that information should help guest to plan to attend your wedding. If you do not decide to send save-the-dates but will be having a destination wedding, I recommend you send your invitations out sooner than 7-9 weeks before. Also setup a wedding website with the above information for your guest to visit. Check out these really neat save-the-date ideas.
Love the idea of giving your guest a calender with your date already circled.
These are stickers with the info on the them, guest can just add to their own calender.
These postcards are a very cute idea.
